So, we're building a farm!

It wasn't a tough choice. Not when we considered the rising cost of living, the amount of poison continually be added to commercially processed foods and the quality of life that having a farm and getting down and dirty in the Earth brings to a family. Change is hard. Leaving the immediate comforts of family is hard, but we are so content in our decision and feel so blessed to know that God opened all the right doors that the hard parts are lost in the joy of what is just meant to be.

First, let me tell you, we did not move to a place of lush pastures and cross-fenced farmland... we moved into a repossessed doublewide on 10 wooded acres, a good 30 miles from town. Already, we have found clearings which were once a hunter's set up with his feed plot and tree stand and trails that lead to beautiful spaces we're in love with.

On the inside of my "fantasy farmhouse" I am busy making it into a home and have to share my favorite part, so far... the dining room! With a family of 7 we need a big table. We built one when we first adopted 5 years ago, but it's a scant too big for our space here. So, we built another one! I LOVE IT!!!

While I dream of picking dinner from the garden and taking meat we've raised or hunted from the freezer to cook, we're not quite there... yet. But, it's in the vision and gives me so much to look forward to.

I hope this blog becomes a scrapbook of memories for our children to share with their children one day and for you, dear reader, to "visit" our little piece of home; my farmhouse fantasy.
